book parade

Kate's preschool had a book parade. Each teacher got to pick a literary character for her class to dress up as. Kate's class was 101 Dalmatians. Her teacher made the costumes, which turned out so cute! The parade started in their classroom. Then they walked thru the school, out the door, around the building, & back to the classroom....barking & posing for pics the whole way.

Afterward, lunch at Olive Garden

For those of you that know my sister, thought you might like to see how she dressed for work today.

keeping us entertained

This summer I went to Target & bought Kate a box of Disney board books. They were to keep her entertained on our road trip to visit rachel. Turns out it was the best $9.99 I ever spent! She's memorized every book & won't let us read them to her anymore......she insists on reading them to us. I need to video tape her doing it b/c it is hilarious! Below are some of my favorite pages that she "reads."

Kate: Bambi is a curious spawn.

Kate: Grandmother Willow takes them to the mall.

Kate: One day, Pinocchio will eat an apple & become a real boy.

bizarre, yet funny

this morning i made a brookshires run. as i was backing out of my parking space, i noticed that the lady in the car next to me was plucking her chin hair! i had to do a double take. sure enough, there she was with the visor mirror down & the tweezers plucking away at her chin.
i tweeze as much as the next gal...but thankfully not my chin...yet! :) if it ever comes to that, i guaranty it will not be done in a parking lot.

2 night owls & a couple of early birds

The boys in this house are total bed buffaloes. They stay up all hours of the night & are impossible to drag out of bed in the morning. Not that we let Max stay up late, he just lays in bed for hours before falling asleep. When I wake him up for school, I pull the covers off of him. With his eyes still closed, he gropes around trying to find the covers to pull back over his head.

Then there's little KK, who falls asleep as soon as her head hits the pillow. In the morning, she either wakes up before I do, or hears me walking down the hall to wake up Max. She immediately pops out of bed & can't wait to tell me her dreams....usually about the Disney princesses.

This is how I found Max at 11pm the other night. It totally scared me & I almost stepped on him. He had NEVER done this before.

still cracking up...

as i was getting ready to meet some friends for dinner, i overheard max & kate in the kitchen:

kate: where's mommy going?
max: she's going on mamas' night out. that means the mamas are going out to have fun without the kids bothering them.

BINGO!

Lady Catherine is a hoot!

I watched the 1940's version of Pride & Prejudice on TCM last night. It was so good! I want to rent the 2005 version, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.

I must say that Lady Catherine is hilarious. My favorite lines of hers are:
-I've never met a painter or an architect who did not congratulate me upon my taste.
-And, I, too, should have been a great proficient, if I'd ever learned [to play the piano].

My Cousin's Big, Fat, Catholic, Baha'i Wedding

Last weekend we flew to Madison, Wisconsin for my cousin's wedding. My entire family was there & we had a blast. There were 2 ceremonies: a Catholic ceremony at church, then a Baha'i ceremony outside. Max was the ring bearer & he did an excellent job.

At the reception, Kate was the dancing queen. You couldn't drag her off the dance floor. She was out there for hours. Her signature move was gallopping in place & flapping her elbows... it was sooo cute!

Resting our dancing shoes...

On a side note....we loved listening to the native accents. Mike's friend (who lives 1 hr from Madison) met us at the hotel. He was talking about football & ha-key. :)

for stacy...

I've always said she looks like the Noxzema girl! (far right)

funny!

Max said I look most like Rachel Bilson. Kate Bosworth? I don't think so. She showed up on Carlie's list too. Katie Holmes?? Yeah right!

To Kill A Mockingbird

While standing in the Walmart checkout line last week, I heard the lady behind me say to her son, "Come here, Atticus." She also had a little girl with her, so I asked if her daughter's name was Scout. She laughed & said her name was Lola. Then she thanked me for knowing where his name came from, cause nobody else did. Guess people have forgotten their high school American Lit.
