i'm a gamer!

i haven't played any type of gaming system since the original nintendo. i loved those old school games - mario, tetris, etc. so i was a little concerned when michael got an xbox 360 for Christmas. i figured all the newer games would be too complicated or violent for me. this weekend michael took max to blockbuster to rent a game they could play together. they came home with lego star wars & literally played it ALL DAY LONG. (i think they even skipped lunch.) after the kids went to bed, michael wanted me to play it with him. i agreed and found out that i am awesome! i was blowing stuff up & figuring out how to advance us to the next level. michael was extremely impressed with my skills...that's right, i have gaming skills. max got up & caught us playing without him. he did not like that one bit. i have a strong feeling we'll be purchasing this game very soon.

kids quotes

max: strawberries are healthy food. they are 101% goodness.

when my sister asked kate to be the flower girl, she replied: yeah! and maxie can be the ring bear.

one day mike & i were discussing the dangers of max playing outside unsupervised. so i went out to watch him play. as we were coming back inside max said: you go in ahead of me & act sad & tell daddy I got killed. then i’ll come in & surprise him.

kate: i don't want the bunglebee to itch me.

i told max i wanted to play his board game at the table, cause i was too old to sit on the floor & play. max said: you're not old. you still know how to cook.

whenever max orders kate around, kate comes whining to me and says: maxie told me to do.

max: what’s inside that italian dressing that makes me think it’s so good? can you read the ingredients?

kate: the pancakes will get the tummy ache out of my tummy.

max: mom, if you didn’t have me, then you wouldn’t have someone who’s into spongebob squarepants shows.

there is a certain stray cat that sometimes sits at our back door. kate will say: my best friend came back! max said of the cat: he only likes to come here & visit for a minute…on saturdays…i think.

****************************
as i'm writing this, mike says: you're picking max up from school today, cause it's COLD out there.
gee, thanks hon! (guess i shouldn't complain....cause i'm lucky to have a husband that works from the house & can sometimes pick the kids up.)
*****************************
p.s. mike wants everyone to know that he was only kidding. he will endure the bitter cold for me today.

appropriate?

our new & improved airport has a sound system that plays music on the curb as passengers are dropped off. when i dropped michael off last week, the song "How Do I Live Without You" by LeeAnn Rimes was playing. as we were getting the bags out of the car, we heard, "....if you ever leave, baby you would take away everything real in my life...and tell me, how do i live without you?" i looked at michael & we both started laughing. whose bright idea was it to play that song at an airport??

de-lish

so i'm still on a health food kick. in my attempt to cut back on p.h.v. oil & h.f.c. syrup, i bought these kashi honey oat waffles....very tasty! even my kids will eat them. which says a lot, cause they're addicted to good ol' kellogg's eggo cinnamon toast waffles. but what kid isn't??

she has the ring!

stacy & brian are engaged! we all (mom, sisters & kids) stayed w/ carlie this weekend. justin offered to watch the kids while we went dress shopping. he kept them entertained by decorating cupcakes. we were gone for 5hrs & everyone survived. thanks, justin!

on the bandwagon

thanks rach, for convincing me to steer clear of partially hydrogenated oil......or at least cut back on it. i have been hearing about how bad it is for us, but i wasn't motivated to change my grocery list. that is until our conversation yesterday. when i was at the store today, i couldn't bring myself to buy jif peanut butter, so i got the smart balance brand. also, i took your advice & switched from danimals to homemade smoothies (made w/ stonyfield farm organic yogurt & strawberries). i can't believe i bought organic! the kids were super excited about making their own smoothies. max can't wait til i buy more types of fruit to mix in them. he also said he wanted to put veggies in there! (he's definitely my child!)

so, what kind of snack crackers do you (or anyone else) recommend?

BEWARE!!!

I was one second away from being the victim of a credit card scam!!!

Here's the backstory...

We've been getting calls every other day from a CitiBank automated system. The recorded voice tells me to call
1-800-200-8054 regarding my account. I figured someone was just trying to sell me something, so I never called the number.....until today.

I was tired of them calling here all the time, so this afternoon I called to tell them we're on the "Do Not Call" list. The guy who answered immediately asked for my account number. Of course I didn't give it to him. And he eventually hung up on me.

I called the real CitiBank to report the incident. It indeed was a scam. Mike was furious! He called the scammers back & gave them an ear full. But they continued to claim that they were legit. Scary stuff.

Peat & Repeat

We've got a copycat in the house. It seems like everything Max says, Kate has to say. So Max has been dubbed, Peat..... and Kate, Repeat. But Kate adds a dramatic "too" at the end of her statements.

Max - I'm hungry.
Kate - I'm hungry, toooooo.

Max - I wanna watch a movie.
Kate - I wanna watch a movie, tooooo.

Max - Kate, stop copying me!!!
Kate - Ok.

But of course she doesn't.

hi everyone

guess it's about time for a new post.
our holidays were great. we're now back into the swing of things. the kids are in school again, which means i have time to get the house back in order! hooray! i hung some curtains in the dining room (a.k.a. mike's sports room/office). the following picture doesn't do them justice - they are really deep red. mike said the room looks like a russian czar's palace. (haha) here are some pics from the last few weeks.
